1. How to delete your account
Open Profile, then either Account, then Delete account, or Privacy, then Delete account. You will be asked to enter your password to confirm it is really you, to type DELETE, and to confirm that you understand the action cannot be undone. When you confirm, the deletion happens immediately and you are signed out. You do not need to email us, wait for approval, or ask support to do it for you.
2. Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play, because only the store can do that. If you have an active subscription, cancel it with the store first — otherwise it will keep renewing after your account is gone. The app warns you about this on the deletion screen when it can see an active subscription.
3. What is deleted
Your sign-in credentials and your account itself, and everything that exists only because of your account: your profile, your preferences and notification settings, your saved jobs, saved searches and job alerts, your own application-tracking records and their history, your support tickets and their replies (including reports you made about job listings or employers, which are filed as support tickets), your consent records, your privacy requests, and your subscription entitlement records. Anything stored only on your device, such as a résumé you added, goes when you remove the app or clear its data.
4. What is kept, and why
Two kinds of record survive, with your account reference removed so that they no longer identify you. Security and audit events are kept because they are the record of what happened on the service — including the record that your deletion was requested and completed — and a security log that can be erased by the person it describes is not a security log. Billing and payment events are kept because they are financial records. Records that serve a business or moderation purpose rather than your account are also kept with your reference removed: for example an enquiry raised on behalf of an employer, a note written by a reviewer, or a report about an offer in the Remote Work Shop. How long these are kept is being set with counsel and is not stated here rather than being guessed at.
5. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone
There is no waiting period and no recovery window. Once you confirm, the account is gone, and we cannot restore it, your saved jobs or your application history. If you want a copy of your data, request it before deleting: Profile, then Privacy, then Download my data.
6. Deleting only part of your data
If you want something specific removed rather than your whole account, or you want a copy of your data, use Profile, then Privacy, or contact legal@midnightapps.dev.
